Reversible metal strip 440x60mm. One edge has 21 entrance slots to act as a mouseguard and permit entry and exit for the bees. The other has 4 rows of 3mm diameter holes to permit ventilation, which is ideal to close the hive prior to moving. This is fitted to the brood box of a hive and NOT the floor.

Supplied fixing bracket has one closed end; the lug of the mouseguard locates on this stop when slid in from the top. It therefore hangs in front of the hive entrance like a curtain. The brackets need to be fitted accurately. Screws for attachment are supplied. Not suitable for WBC hives.

Used in the autumn when mice or other rodents may be looking for a warm winter retreat. The damage caused by mice etc. can be substantial, they will eat honey, pollen and even the bees, destroy comb and generally disturb the brood nest.

Mouseguards can be removed in the spring.
